CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets analyst Steven Fox today launched coverage of Apple (AAPL) with a Buy rating and a $260 price target.

"Apple's ecosystem is in the process of meaningfully expanding its reach through an increasingly robust set of applications... which can be compounded with the much-anticipated potential launch a tablet product in 2010," he writes in a research note.

Meanwhile, Fox notes that Apple is putting a dent in a number of previously large markets, including gaming hardware (a $26 billion worldwide market), navigation devices (a $6 billion market) and video cameras (a $720 million market.)

Fox adds that price cuts, upgrades, new geographic markets and additional carrier relationships all should drive further market share increases for the iPhone. He sees FY 2010 units increasing 70% to 35 million.

AAPL today is up $3.09, or 1.6%, to $192.04. 9:23:26 PM
